This course provides the knowledge to reduce fire risks, deal with fires if appropriate and escape safely in the event of fire

This certificate lasts for three years and is transferable.

This course covers -
the use of fire extinguishers, escape routes, fire behaviour and prevention.

Is there an assessment?

At the end of the course, you will be asked questions to check your understanding. These are based on the learning objectives for the course. The pass mark is 80%.

  • Recognise different fire prevention measures
  • Identify common fire safety signs
  • Explain how fire starts and spreads
  • Recognise the different types of fire-fighting equipment and extinguishers
  • Explain the purpose of fire risk assessment
  • Explain the actions to take in an emergency situation
