The International Maritime Human Factors Symposium (IMHFS) is an annual event that brings together academia, industry and regulatory bodies to enhance maritime safety and operational efficiency. It emphasises the crucial role of human factors in risk management and safety.

Jodie Dix — IHF Human Factors Consultant — presented on the topic of “Human Factors in Control Room Design” at the International Maritime Human Factors Symposium (IMHFS) 2025.

The event — hosted by University of Strathclyde — was at their Technology and Innovation Centre in Glasgow, Scotland on the 3rd to the 5th of December.

The symposium addressed the complex relationship between human and organisational factors in maritime operations and served as a platform for sharing research, exchanging ideas and establishing best practices to minimise maritime accidents.

Jodie’s presentation that was co-written with Tracey Milne — IHF Chief Operating Officer — began at 14:30 during the “Human Factors in Design” session on day two of the event.
